Whalen, Brungo Kick Off Reading For Rebounds

Lindsay Whalen and Jessica Brungo recently visited the Charles E. Murphy Elementary School in Oakdale, as part of the Newspaper in Education (NIE) program. The second-year players read “A Sea Turtle Story” to enthusiastic third- and fifth-graders. They also answered questions and signed autographs for the kids.

The NIE program runs in conjunction with The New London Day and provides thousands of students in the region with newspapers and supporting curriculum to use as additional learning tools within the classroom environment.
