Final Stop On High School Tour

Over a period of five weeks the Connecticut Sun have been making stops at area girls' high school basketball games as part of the 2005 Connecticut Sun High School Tour. Sun players Lindsay Whalen, Jessica Brungo, Debbie Black and Sun mascot Blaze have met with players, families and fans bringing fun and excitement to high school gyms across the state.

The final stop on the tour was in Colchester at Bacon Academy, a school that’s been known for its girls’ basketball teams. The B.A. Bobcats took on the Griswold Wolverines. Not only was it “senior night” for the Bobcats, but it was also a must-win to secure their playoff hopes.

Jessica Brungo and Blaze were on hand for the festivities. Pre-game Jessica met with both teams to answer questions and sign autographs. At the half, the Bacon cheerleaders and dance team presented their senior night performances. Afterwards, Jess and Blaze ran a ‘dizzy bat’ shooting contest and threw t-shirts to the excited crowd.

The Bacon Academy stop marked the end of the road for the 2005 Connecticut Sun High School Tour. The tour was a very successful, fun and exciting time. Look for the tour next season at a high school near you!
