This summer, the WNBA will celebrate its 10th anniversary is by highlighting it’s commitment to local communities around the country. In conjunction with the WNBA’s ten years of caring initiative, the Connecticut Sun issued a Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself fitness challenge to ten sixth graded classes in New London County. The sixth grade students were asked to complete 10 fitness challenges. The school with the highest total score would receive a three thousand dollar stipend to be used towards physical education equipment.
East Lyme Middle School was the winning school. Lindsay Whalen and dancers from Solar Power went to the middle school to speak and present a large check (figuratively and literally!).
