Wow, it’s taken awhile for me to get this blog going! Sorry for the delay, but we have been busy playing games and getting adjusted to life back in Prague. It has been a lot of fun, especially knowing the area and what to expect this season.
So far we are 1-3 in Euroleague after a tough game the other night with UMMC Ekaterinburg. It has been fun so far playing against several Connecticut Sun players. Earlier this season, we were in Sibenik, Croatia and played against Kerri Gardin. And the other night against UMMC, I saw Ashja, Sandrine and Svet. Coach Thibault also came over to watch the game. We all went out to dinner at a fun place in Prague. It is called "HOT," and it has all kinds of Czech cuisine as well as some American food.
I also got to play against Whit (Tamika Whitmore) last week in our local Czech league. We won the game by two points at the end. It was a good win for our team. Now we need to carry it over to Euroleague next week on the road in Gdynia, Poland. Should be fun visiting there. They have Pizza Hut!
How about my Gopher's football team turnaround this season? They are 7-3 at the moment, and on their way to a solid bowl game. We have Wisconsin this weekend, so I will be watching that closely. After a 1-11 season, they have really made some progress this year. And the Vikings are 5-4, which is pretty good after a really tough schedule to start the season. Beating our rivals, the Packers, was great.
I have been watching some new TV shows over here to help pass some of the downtime. One that I am a really big fan of is "Chuck." It is a show about a normal guy who works at an electronics store and now he is in the CIA because he got this computer chip downloaded in his brain. It is pretty funny and has some good twists and turns. It has been nice having another show to go to since I am all caught up with Grey's Anatomy and The Office. What a great show The Office is though.
Just recently, we acquired a new technology device that has made it really feel like home here in Prague. It’s called the Sling Catcher. Some of you may have heard of Sling Box, where you can watch your TV at home on your computer. It is less complicated than it sounds. You need to have some cords hooked up to your cable at home and then a program on your computer, and you have regular TV on your computer.
So now we have the new one where you hook up the Sling Catcher to your TV, and it comes up on the TV like at home. I mean, it depends on how strong your internet is, but for the most part it works just like at home. It is so great when you’re away from home! It has really come in handy for football games on the weekend.
Other than the new technology, there is not a whole lot new over here. We go to Poland for Euroleague, and then have a Czech League road game on the weekend. Thanksgiving is coming soon. I’ll report back on if we found a turkey to cook over here!
Until next time,
-Lindsay
