Jacinta Monroe

For the Storm, the addition of Jacinta Monroe in the April 2011 trade that also brought Katie Smith to Seattle represents an exciting infusion of young talent. Because the Storm has been so successful throughout the Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson era, Monroe - the sixth overall pick by the Washington Mystics in 2010 - is the highest draft pick the Storm has had on the team in her first two years since Bird and Jackson themselves. Monroe enjoyed a highly successful four-year career at Florida State, earning All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive First Team honors as a senior before a broken bone in her hand curtailed Monroe's rookie season in the WNBA.
