Ify Ibekwe comes from a family where high-level basketball is the norm. She was the last of four brothers and sisters to play Division I basketball. Oldest brother Onye played at Long Beach State, brother Ekene played at Maryland and has since played professionally overseas as well as a stint in summer league with the Portland Trail Blazers, and sister Chinyere played at UCLA. Ibekwe made her own name at the University of Arizona, becoming the first player in program history to total more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds or average a double-double for her career. Ibekwe was the Pac-10's Defensive Player of the Year as both a junior and a senior, helping lead the Wildcats back to postseason play after a drought.
