In 1997, Adrienne Johnson teamed with Jenny Boucek on the Cleveland Rockers. Eight years later, she'll play for Boucek, now an assistant coach for the Storm. In between, Johnson spent five years with the Orlando/Connecticut franchise after being selected in the 1999 Dispersal Draft. Originally a developmental player with the Rockers after averaging only 9.2 points per game during her career at Ohio State, Johnson broke out in 2000, starting 31 of 32 games and ranking second on the Miracle with 13.6 points per game. Johnson finished second to Tari Phillips in Most Improved Player voting and hit at least one 3-pointer in 18 straight games, one of the longest streaks in WNBA history. The following spring, however, Johnson tore her Achilles tendon during training camp and missed the entire season. She returned to find her starting spot claimed by Katie Douglas, but averaged better than five points per game off the bench the next two seasons before being waived near the end of 2004 training camp as the Sun looked to cheaper alternatives.
