PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Robinson
4.0 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 1.7 bpg
Given her first opportunity to start since joining the Storm, Robinson responded with a strong week. She had consecutive games with 10-plus rebounds (a career-high-tying 13 at Detroit and 11 vs. Washington) and averaged double-figures on the glass for the week. Robinson added five blocks and contributed at times on offense. "I think the best thing is her energy," added Storm Head Coach Anne Donovan.

Storm 12 19 24 19 74
at Minnesota 20 21 37 17 95
The short-handed Storm kicked off a two-game road trip Tuesday in Minnesota. A slow scoring start caused Seattle to fall behind early, but it was defense that failed the team in the third quarter. The Lynx's 37-point period - including 16 alone from forward Svetlana Abrosimova - set a Storm record for opponent scoring. Minnesota cruised to a 95-74 victory, with five players scoring double-figures. Betty Lennox led the Storm with 16 points and pulled down seven boards.

at Detroit 25 20 31 21 97
The Storm's trip - and the team's road schedule - wrapped up Thursday against the Detroit Shock. Again, the Storm struggled to get into its offense in the early going with two starters out of the lineup. The Shock led by 13 after the first quarter and the Storm never got much closer, with a 31-21 Detroit advantage in the third quarter putting the game away. The Shock won 97-70, holding the Storm to 29.7% shooting. Iziane Castro Marques was the lone effective Storm scorer, posting 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Three reserves were amongst the five Detroit players to score double-figures.

The Storm clicked in at both ends in the third quarter, coming out of halftime with an 18-0 run and holding the Mystics to eight points in the period. WEEKLY NEWS/NOTES
  • At tip-off Saturday, the Storm clinched a playoff berth when San Antonio defeated Houston. The Storm is making its fourth straight playoff appearance, something only three other teams in the WNBA have done. The Storm has been locked into the fourth spot in the Western Conference and will find out a first-round opponent later this week.
  • Jackson missed the Storm's road trip to return home to Australia and be with her gravely ill paternal grandmother, who passed away shortly after Jackson flew back to the U.S. Jackson played with a heavy heart Saturday because of the loss.

Meanwhile, center Janell Burse saw her season end when the decision was made for her not to travel with the team either. The damaged ligaments in Burse's left wrist became too painful for her to play with in advance of Monday's scheduled surgery.
