PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Jackson
34.3 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 64.4% fgs, 55.6% threes, 91.7% fts
At some point, the praise for Jackson begins to be repetitive. In the midst of one of the most remarkable seasons the WNBA has ever seen, Jackson put together an amazing week. Her 47-point effort Tuesday at Washington stands as arguably the greatest single-game performance in league history, and Jackson followed it up with two more games where she threatened the 30-point mark on über-efficient shooting. For the second straight week and fourth time this season, the WNBA honored Jackson with its Western Conference Player of the Week accolade.

Storm 21 19 24 24 8 96
at Washington 28 12 31 17 9 97
Wrapping up a four-game road trip Tuesday in Washington, the Storm fell behind early in the third quarter because of poor defense but got back into the game thanks to Jackson's one-woman heroics. She scored 23 of the Storm's 27 points in one stretch and it was two Jackson free throws that tied the game and forced overtime. In the extra session, however, Alana Beard proved impossible to stop. Her jumper with six seconds left effectively finished the game, though Jackson added another three-pointer to tie the WNBA single-game record with 47 points. Beard's 27 led three Mystics to score 20-plus points.

The Storm took advantage of the absence of All-Star forward Tamika Catchings Friday, beating the short-handed Fever 89-75 in a game that was not nearly as close as the score indicated. Indiana mustered just 27 points in the first half; Jackson alone had 21 as the Storm built a 23-point lead. Seattle led by as many as 35 in the third quarter before the Fever rallied to make the final score respectable. Jackson led the Storm with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

With neither team leading by more than eight points at any time, the game entered the final minute and a half tied at 86. All five Storm starters scored double-figures, including 29 points for Jackson, but San Antonio shot 51.6% from the field and scored a season-high 92 points.
