Storm Partners with Treehouse
to Benefit Foster Children

Bring Donations to KeyArena at July 14 Game

July 10, 2013

SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm is spreading holiday cheer a few months early this year. On July 14, the Storm will take on the Atlanta Dream at 6 p.m. at KeyArena for Christmas in July, featuring a toy and clothing drive to benefit foster children in the community.

In addition to encouraging fans to wear their best ugly holiday sweaters, the Storm has taken this opportunity to partner with Treehouse, a nonprofit organization that provides the community’s youth in foster care with academic and other essential support to help them graduate high school with a plan for their future.

Donation drives help raise money to fund activities for foster youth that every young person should have, like participating in school sports, to help build confidence in the child and to create a sense of community. Treehouse offers a free store for foster kids, The Wearhouse, and drives help stock the shelves with the necessities.

“It truly takes a community to provide youth in foster care with the essential material goods and experiences that they need to graduate from high school and have bright futures,” said Janis Avery, Treehouse CEO. “Thank you for helping us level the playing field for youth in foster care.”

Items that are always in high demand are: new and like-new clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, games and books.
