Iziane Castro Marques
22.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.3 bpg, 22-39 fgs, 20-25 fts
One of four players who made their Storm debuts Saturday at KeyArena, Castro Marques had the best game. In only nine minutes of action off the bench, Castro Marques scored eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, making her the only Storm player to shoot at least 50%. Her free throw and a subsequent jumper ended a lengthy Storm scoring drought during the second half. While Castro Marques came off the bench in the opener, she could move into the starting lineup if she continues playing like she did Saturday.

Los Angeles 29 39 68
at Storm 27 23 50
The Storm opened the 2005 campaign against the arch-rival Los Angeles Sparks. In the early going, it looked like it might be all Storm as Seattle opened up a 19-6 lead and no Sparks player besides Lisa Leslie scored during the first 12:30 of the game. But the Sparks found offense while shutting Seattle down with a zone defense that forced the Storm to the perimeter. By halftime, Los Angeles had claimed a 29-27 lead. An 11-0 run over seven minutes and 45 seconds where the Storm went scoreless pushed the Sparks advantage to 16 points, and they cruised to a 68-50 win. The Storm attempted a WNBA-record 32 3-pointers and set a franchise record by shooting just 23.7% from the field. Betty Lennox (14) was the only Storm player in double-figures, ending Lauren Jackson's streak of 84 straight games with 10 points or more, the second-longest in WNBA history.

Storm Hands Out Rings, Raises Banner
The Storm reaped the rewards of the 2004 WNBA Championship on Saturday, with a pre-game ceremony to hand out championship rings and raise the Storm's Championship Banner to the KeyArena rafters. The rings, designed with input from Jackson and Sue Bird, were presented to the six returning Storm players as well as the coaching staff and basketball operations personnel.

The WNBA Champions banner was unveiled by the players and raised to the north end of the arena.

Storm Finalizes Roster
Entering the week with 15 players, the Storm needed to make several moves to set its final roster prior to Friday's deadline. On Tuesday, the team made the difficult decision to release veteran Adia Barnes, who had spent the previous three seasons in Seattle. On Friday, point guard Shaquala Williams was waived, beaten out for the backup point guard spot by newly-signed Italian Francesca Zara. Center Suzy Batkovic was temporarily placed on the suspended list and will be activated when she arrives from Australia during the first week of June. Rounding out the moves, rookie forward Natalia Vodopyanova was placed on the injured list.
