Seattle Storm Announces Signing of Joslyn Tinkle
Tinkle Named to WNBA Roster for First Time in Career

August 24, 2013

SEATTLE – Joslyn Tinkle has signed with the Seattle Storm, the club announced today. Rookie Jasmine Hassell, who was previously signed to a trio of consecutive seven-day contracts, has not been re-signed.

"I'm very grateful for this opportunity and am honored to be a part of the Storm organization,” said Tinkle. “I'm excited to be here in Seattle amongst so many great players and people."

A 6-3 forward out of Stanford University and 2013 All-Pac-12 first team honoree, Tinkle started all 36 games and averaged 11.8 points and 5.7 rebounds as a senior in 2013. Stanford compiled a 33-3 record, handing Baylor University and then-senior Brittney Griner their first loss in over 40 games, going on to fall to Georgia in the Sweet Sixteen in the 2013 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. Throughout her Stanford career, Tinkle appeared at three NCAA Final Fours, (2010-12), was the 34th addition to Stanford’s 1,000-Point Club and finished fourth all-time on the program’s career blocks list with 150.

A native of Missoula, Montana, Tinkle was part of the USA Women's U18 National Team, which captured gold with a perfect 5-0 performance at the FIBA Americas Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina in July of 2008.

Tinkle was a double-major in sociology and communication at Stanford. Her father, Wayne, is the men’s basketball head coach at University of Montana.

Tinkle will be the sixth graduate of Stanford to wear a Storm uniform. Katy Steding (2001), Sonja Henning (2000-02), Kate Paye (2002), Charmin Smith (2000-01) and Kate Starbird (2002) are the others.
