The Seattle Storm will open its 2010 WNBA schedule on Sunday, May 16 in a 6 p.m. matchup versus the Sparks at KeyArena. The Storm will play on national television four times with all broadcasts airing on ESPN2. Highlighting the Storm’s national television coverage is a KeyArena home game against defending WNBA Champion and league MVP Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27.
Weekends will be busy at KeyArena this season as nine of the 17 regular-season Storm home games will be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The weekend matchups include the 2009 Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Fever on Friday, June 25, the league’s newest franchise, Tulsa on Saturday, Aug. 7 and Western Conference rival Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, May 16 and Saturday, Aug. 21.
“We look forward to another season of exciting matchups between the world’s best players competing at KeyArena,” said Storm CEO Karen Bryant. “We invite basketball fans and the Puget Sound community to be a part of the energized crowd at KeyArena next summer, starting with our season opener against Los Angeles on Sunday, May 16.
The Storm will host its annual Dads & Daughters Night on Sunday, June 20 vs. the San Antonio Silver Stars and the popular Kids Day celebration game is set for Tuesday, July 6, with a noon tipoff against former Storm Head Coach Anne Donovan and the New York Liberty. The remaining theme night schedule for the 2010 Storm season will be announced in the coming weeks. 2010 Storm season tickets starting at just $180, group tickets, and deposits for ticket packages are available now by calling 206-217-WNBA. Fans who purchase 2010 season tickets before Dec. 31 will receive a commemorative Storm DVD.
