SEATTLE - Seattle Storm team officials announced today that center Kelly Santos has joined the Brazilian national team in Madrid, Spain in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

“Representing your country is a very special opportunity,” Storm head coach Brian Agler said. “We respect and support her decision to join her national team.”

After joining the Brazilian national team in 1997, Santos won a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney, Australia and competed in the 2004 Olympics. Originally drafted in the fourth round (#54 overall) of the 2001 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock, Santos averaged 1.2 points in five games with the Storm during the 2008 season.
