Ashley Robinson Signs with Storm
Robinson Returns to Seattle for Second Time in WNBA Career

July 12, 2013

SEATTLE – A member of the 2010 Storm WNBA championship team, Ashley Robinson, has signed with the franchise, the Storm announced today. Seattle has waived Cierra Bravard. Robinson will be in uniform and available on Sunday, July 14, as the Storm hosts the Atlanta Dream at 6 p.m.

“This was an unexpected gift to come back and play my 10th WNBA season in Seattle,” said Robinson. “I'm most excited about seeing all my Storm Crazies at KeyArena.”

Robinson, a 6-4 center, spent 2012 with the Washington Mystics and has not suited up for a WNBA game in 2013 thus far. Prior to her stint in the nation’s capital, Robinson was a member of the Storm from 2006-11, including the 2010 season, which saw the Storm tear through the playoffs with an undefeated 7-0 run.

“Ashley is a very athletic post who is familiar with the Storm and how we do things,” said Storm head coach and general manager Brian Agler. “We expect Ashley to step right in and give us some depth at the post position.”

In her nine-year career, Robinson is averaging 1.9 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game and 12.5 minutes per game.

After graduating from Tennessee in 2004, Robinson was selected in the second round (14th overall) in the 2004 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury. She spent two years in Phoenix and then was selected by Chicago in the WNBA Expansion Draft on Nov. 16, 2005. She was traded to Seattle on June 29, 2006.
