Storm Announces Training Camp Roster, Re-Signs Robinson

- Seattle Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Brian Agler announced today the re-signing of 6-4 forward/center Ashley Robinson. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“We are very glad to have Ashley back on our roster this season,” Agler said. “She will continue to bring her toughness and knowledge of the game to our frontcourt.”

Acquired on June 29, 2006 in a trade with the Chicago Sky, Robinson has played a total of 50 regular season games with the Storm the past two seasons. She started two games during the 2007 postseason, averaging of 4.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

Three former WNBA MVPs, five All-Stars, and two draft picks highlight the 2008 Seattle Storm Training Camp roster, announced today by team officials. The Storm is also heading into the 2008 season under new leadership, from local owners Force 10 Hoops L.L.C. and from the new coaching staff, led by head coach Brian Agler.

Seattle’s 2008 training camp roster features eight returning players - including 2007 WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson, All-Star Sue Bird, Janell Burse, Shyra Ely, Katie Gearlds, Robinson, Doneeka Lewis and Tanisha Wright – the addition of three free agents in former WNBA MVP’s Sheryl Swoopes and Yolanda Griffith, along with All-Star Swin Cash, two draft picks and four training camp invitees.

Training Camp opens on Monday, April 21 with Media Day. The Storm opens their preseason schedule on the road against the Chicago Sky on Wednesday, April 30, with tip-off set for 5 p.m. PDT. The team then travels to play the Sacramento Monarchs on Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m. PDT, before returning home for their final preseason game on Saturday, May 10 versus the Indiana Fever at 7 p.m. at KeyArena.

The Storm opens its ninth WNBA season at KeyArena against the Sky on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m. PDT, with local radio coverage on Alternative Talk KKNW-AM 1150. On Tuesday, May 20, the Storm takes on the Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. PDT at KeyArena on ESPN2, before traveling to play the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, May 22 and the San Antonio Silver Stars on Saturday, May 24, which will be televised on ABC at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
