Postgame Quotes/Notes - L.A. 74, Storm 50

June 19, 2011

STORM HEAD COACH BRIAN AGLER:

On the lopsided outcome:
Getting beat by 24 points, itís not a whole lot different than getting beat by three or four. We had the ball down nine, and were closing the gap in the third, but didnít continue the run.

STORM GUARD SUE BIRD:

On L.A.'s defense:
They probably watched the film from our last game against Indiana. They slowed us down and itís something we have to work through right now.

On the Sparks:
They seem very hungry and played hard every possession and are very versatile. At one point when they had that big lineup, not only were they big but they were all three-point shooters and itís difficult to guard.

STORM CENTER LAUREN JACKSON:

On the loss:
I'm not really too worried, I just want to make sure that we all get on the same page. We need a game like this to find ourselves; I think its frustrating to everyone.

LOS ANGELES HEAD COACH JENNIFER GILLOM:
On the game:
Great game. I have to say our defense tonight was our claim to fame. I thought we did a great job on the zone defense in the first half. I thought in the second half we came out with the intensity we needed to not let them back in the game.

On the bench's performance:
Our bench production was awesome compared to theirs. I think the reason they came out and played that way is because our starters set the example and that is the way it needs to be. We are 11 deep and I think that will be the difference.

On the team:
This game told a lot of about what type of a team we are. This game showed we are capable of playing anyone, anybody at any time and when we play together as a team I'm telling you we are going to be tough to stop.

LOS ANGELES FORWARD EBONY HOFFMAN:
On her performance:
Coach wants me to be aggressive and come out onto court and play aggressive defensively.

On the game:
It was good win for us today. It wasnít my best but thereís more to come like this.

LOS ANGELES CENTER JANTEL LAVENDER:
On her performance:
It feels good to be able to show what I can do and keep the lead for my team.
