On the defensive effort:
The Mercury are as good as any team in the league offensively. They’re quick hitting, they come at you hard. It’s not an easy task to defend them. I don’t like giving up the amount of points that we did. But considering who we were playing it’s not too bad. I liked how we had our defense set throughout the game.
On holding on for the win:
I looked up at the score one time and asked the coaches; is that really what the score is? I thought we were up 12 and all of a sudden we were up four. They can score in bunches, especially when they start hitting threes. I was happy with how we rebounded tonight. We did a better job there. We played pretty efficient basketball. We passed the ball well. Most of the turnovers we did have didn’t result in transition baskets for them.

On the Storm's defense:
That’s what we hang our hat on. Our thing is defense. With them, their thing is offense. It’s not easy to play defense on them with the players that they have. With our versatility we were able to switch off on a lot of screens and make them take tougher shots then they’re used to. With Diana (Taurasi) and Cappie (Pondexter) they’re probably going to make a lot of shots either way. So you just try to make it as tough as possible.
On getting a road win:
Road wins are always great wins. I don’t care who you’re playing. The fact that we were playing a team like Phoenix tonight that was playing very well coming into this game and was on top of the Western Conference (is a bonus). To steal one on the road here feels pretty good.

On the Storm's defense:
We played really, really well. They’ve got a lot of scorers. But we play really good defense. We typically hold our opponents to a low point total. I feel like we did mess up a bit defensively in the first half, but we just did what we normally do defensively in the second half.
On Coach Agler:
He’s a great coach. He’s a great motivator. He knows how to get in our heads and get the best out of us.

On being ejected late in the game:
I guess we saw things differently, and I guess she made the correct call and I was wrong. That was it.
On rebounding:
That really hurt us. Rebounding is the thing, if we don’t get the rebound we can’t run.
On the slow start:
We came a little flat. We played a lot of games, a lot of nights. Not back-to-back, but we played game, day off, game, day off. We just didn’t get it done tonight.
On Nicole Ohlde's 2009 debut:
She looked good. If you want to take something good, that Ohlde came through. She hit a couple of shots, a couple of moves down there. I’m limited in the time I can play her, the doctor said. She played the max amount of minutes she can play.

On the loss:
It’s just a loss. There are a lot of games; you’re going to win some, you’re going to lose some. It’s about what you do the next day, so we’ll see what we’re going to do on this trip to San Antonio. That’s the most important thing right now.
On the matchup:
It’s always a great matchup when we play Seattle. They’re fun games, ultra-competitive, everybody wants to win. They did a better job of making some more plays than we did.
On the team's slow start:
Whenever you come out with less energy than you want to and they get out to a big lead, it’s hard to get back into the game and when you finally do it’s taken all of the energy out of you. We've got to do a better job of coming out from the first quarter and setting the pace early. We just didn’t do that today.

On her Mercury debut:
It feels great. I was really excited to come play here. So to finally be able to step on the court in front of these fans, it felt really good. I think we have great fans here.
On rebounding:
Hopefully I will be able to go in there and grab some rebounds for the team. Obviously rebounding is a team effort, but as a post player I need to get in there and get the rebound.
