On the game:
The third quarter was a problem for us. You have to give L.A a lot of credit; they came out and played strong against our zone.
On Mabika's performance:
Well, she came out on fire in the thid quarter and that made a difference in the game. She got a little quiet but we still didn’t respond to their zone.
On the Sparks defense:
We scored at will against their man-to-man, but when he switched to zone we just stopped moving the ball. You can’t have nine assists against a team that plays zone for three quarters of the game and expect to get it done.

On the game:
We came out pumped up in the beginning of the game and played a really good first quarter. Then in the second half we just didn’t get it done.
On being aggressive offensively:
It is very important for me to be involved on Tuesday. It is hard with the defense they play, but we will run some different things and I will just have to work a little harder.

On whether she felt the game slipping away:
Well it’s the playoffs and we knew they would come out aggressive. We just didn’t maintain our intensity. Also we helped them by giving the ball away.
LOS ANGELES HEAD COACH
JOE BRYANT:
On what he said to his team at halftime:
We have worked really hard during the course of the season to lose two games. This playoff season is not about me, it’s about my players. I want them to be successful.
The most important thing was the defense. The first period we had a lot of shots going in and out, so I just told them to hang their heads on defense. I told them playing defense will get them wins. We got very aggressive defensively. We kind of ran the Storm off on 3-pointers, rather than standing there like statues. We made them react.
On his strategy:
Game 1 I was really hoping that
(Chamique) Holdsclaw would be able to play 40 minutes throughout the playoffs and
(Lisa) Leslie being able to play 40 minutes throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, Holdsclaw has the foot injury. We talked about how it’s not about quantity; it’s about quality, so we put her out there tonight for a few minutes.
On Mabika:
Mwadi was great. We told her that we love her jump shot; she is very good shooter, but go ahead and take it to the basket. Physically she is strong and a great shooter.

On the game:
I think we all came out fired up and just knowing that we could do better, we can make more effort. Our coaches told up that we have to have crazy passion about this game. The second half we played with passion and put our hearts in it. We showed that we wanted the game and deserved to go to a Game 3.
