The Storm took a commanding lead in the series by winning in Houston in Game 1, but the four-time WNBA Champions would not be denied. Houston used a late run to earn a 67-64 victory in Game 2 and then jumped on the Storm from the opening tip in a 75-58 Game 3 win, sparked by Sheryl Swoopes recording the WNBA's first playoff triple-double (14 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). The Comets became just the second team in WNBA history to win a series despite losing Game 1 at home. During the two games in Seattle, the Storm
collected over $20,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting the New Orleans-based Franklin Avenue Baptist Church’s Hurricane Katrina relief efforts
