Storm Signs Lawson-Wade

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today signed 5-6 guard Edwige Lawson-Wade, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lawson-Wade appeared in 19 games last season with the New York Liberty and Houston Comets, averaging 1.4 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.2 assists per contest. She scored a career-high 10 points in 22 minutes of action at Sacramento on June 13, 2005.

Originally signed by New York as a free agent on April 4, 2005, Lawson-Wade appeared in two games with the Liberty before being waived the next month on May 30. She signed with Houston on June 1, 2005 and appeared in 17 regular-season games for the Comets. Lawson-Wade was acquired by Charlotte on March 31, 2006 in exchange a third-round draft pick before being waived last Friday, May 19.

Lawson-Wade played for VBM-SGAU in Russia this past offseason, averaging 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 16 EuroLeague games. The French native has also represented her home country in numerous international competitions.
