SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm has signed Ewelina Kobryn, President and CEO Karen Bryant announced today. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Kobryn, a 6-4 forward/center from Poland, joins the Storm after concluding competition at EuroBasket 2011, where she represented the Polish National Team. She averaged 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game during the competition to lead Poland in both categories.

This season, Kobryn played one preseason game for the WNBA’s New York Liberty, recording five points, four rebounds and two blocks in 14 minutes, before joining her national team for EuroBasket.

Kobryn, 29, has played four seasons for TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in the Poland Women’s Basketball League (PLKK). She began her professional career at age 17 with Wisla Krakow in 2002. She was later traded to Lotos Gdynia, also in the PLKK, for three seasons before rejoining Wisla Krakow in 2007. The Polish national averaged 14.1 ppg and 5.7 rpg during the 2010-11 season. With Wisla Krakow, Kobryn advanced to the 2010 Euroleague Final Four and won the 2010-11 PLKK Championship.

Kobryn joined the Storm on the East Coast, where the team opens a three-game road swing with a game against the Connecticut Sun, July 1. It continues with games at Washington, July 3, and at Indiana, July 5. Seattle’s next home game is July 9 vs. Los Angeles.
