Excitement in the air
Posted on April 15, 2008
My goodness, are ya’ll excited about this upcoming season or what? There’s been a plethora of changes that I am sure have everyone fired up about the 2008 WNBA season in Seattle. It’s hard to imagine that the off season has come and gone already and we are just about to start training camp again. What an awesome time to be a Storm fan! I know I am excited to get back to Seattle to work for a spot on a roster that has made, oh, a couple of changes since last season.
My off season hasn’t been nearly as exciting as the one that’s taken place back in Seattle, but I have had a good time while working hard to better my game. I am currently in Athens, Greece, finishing up a couple more games before heading back to the USA. Things have gone a little more smoothly here as opposed to playing in Slovakia. The league in Slovakia wasn’t doing anything for me because we would win every game by about 50 points. So I decided to make the change, and trust me, there’s a little more going on in Athens!
I know that the first thing I need to do is thank Force 10 Hoops L.L.C. The Storm definitely belongs in Seattle because the fans there are like no other fans in the WNBA and they made it possible; so thank you! I absolutely love the city and people of Seattle. Not only am I ready to get back to playing basketball for the Storm, but I am ready to to interact with the greatest fans in league.
When Anne resigned back in November, I knew the people in charge of hiring the right replacement would do just that. I am so excited about the possibility of working with Coach Agler. Playing for a different coach allows a player to learn more because every coach has different philosophies and strategies. I am looking forward to learning from Coach Agler and doing what I can to help win games.
Now, onto the roster changes: where do I even begin? Oh, I don’t know. How about having four players off the WNBA All-Decade Team? The additions of Swin Cash, Sheryl Swoopes and Yolanda Griffith, and the re-signing of Sue, make our roster look pretty darn good. We have a bona-fide all-star lineup and with the right team chemistry, I am sure we make a strong case for a run at bringing another championship to Seattle. Last year was a great learning experience as a rookie, but now I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from and play alongside some of the best to ever play our game.
Last year was a bit of a roller coaster ride for me personally and the team as well, but with the changes that have been made, I don’t see why 2004 can’t be repeated!
