RECAP

It took all 40 minutes, but the Minnesota Lynx survived the Storm to win the deciding Game 3 and their Western Conference Semifinals matchup on Tuesday, 73-72. The Storm had a chance to win it at the but Lauren Jackson's turnaround jumper was off and the Lynx escaped. The Storm battled back time and again all evening. Down as many as 10 in the first quarter, the team got within one by halftime. The game was tight throughout much of the second half, with Minnesota hanging on to a small lead. Sue Bird's three with 35 seconds remaining brought the Storm within one. The team got a needed stop, forcing Lindsay Whalen to miss, and Jackson's rebound set up the final possession. After a timeout, the Storm inbounded directly to Jackson, who could not connect on her trademark fadeaway as the buzzer sounded.

Bird came up with one of her best performances of the season, recording a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists. Camille Little scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Tanisha Wright added 11 for the Storm. The Lynx got a combined 41 points from wings Seimone Augustus and Maya Moore, helping offset a tough shooting night for Whalen (six points on 2-of-9 shooting), who left the game with a left wrist injury before returning with the wrist heavily taped. Rebekkah Brunson had 16 points and nine rebounds, including 10 of Minnesota's 17 points during the fourth quarter.

QUOTABLE
"We knew we had a shot and that we had a chance. It's definitely a really crappy feeling right now, but with that said, I know at some point we will be able to look back and take this into next season."
- Sue Bird
