Good To Be Back in Seattle
Posted on July 25, 2007
NEW YORK! My first visit to the Big Apple and I was not a big fan at all. There are way too many people in that city. Izi took me around the city because, obviously, Izi LOVES NY.
She’s really had some great games against New York and especially in The Garden. We made trips to the top of the Rockefeller, Ground Zero and we even took the subway - all experiences I will never forget. However, the best part of that trip was playing in MSG, one of the most historic arenas and where I can remember watching Reggie Miller constantly burying three-pointers in front of Spike Lee!
On the rookie hazing thing ... not so much! I have actually been very fortunate because I have a great group of vets that really take care of me. I am blessed to be in the situation I am in. Izi is teaching me some Portuguese; that’s been fun because I am picking it up pretty well!
Now, it feels good knowing we are home for awhile, but we understand that it doesn’t guarantee us wins when we are in the Key. We are about to play three solid teams in this homestand starting Friday night with Indiana. So, we hope to see ya’ll in KeyArena Friday night making that place really thunder!
Ciao!

Ready to Surge in Second Half
Posted on July 16, 2007
I was asked to write a rookie diary that would be put on the Storm homepage. It’s most likely going to be a once a week thing, so hopefully it turns out really well. Also, if you have any questions that you would like to be answered, please send them in and I’ll see what I can do.
So, it is officially our last day of All-Star break today because we are off to start what hopes to be a strong second half of the season in Phoenix tomorrow. We are currently in third place in the Western Conference standings. The first part of the season was a little bit of a roller coaster, but we feel like we are playing very good basketball right now. Besides the loss to Connecticut at home right before break, we had put a little streak together and we are looking to carry that momentum on our nine-day road swing. It’ll definitely be good to get back here to Seattle with some wins under our belt.
As a rookie, it’s most definitely been a learning experience from whatever direction you choose to look at it. The travel days are not entirely fun and being away from home is not easy; the back-to-back nights are different than college and did I say being away from home is not easy!? I am a huge home girl and a Hoosier at heart (well, a Boilermaker, but you know what I mean!) and I really do miss my family and friends back home; however, Seattle is a very cool place to be and I am totally enjoying my time here. I actually just relaxed here in town over the All-Star break and was able to see some things I hadn’t seen due to our busy schedule. But I am ready to get back on the court and win some games …
Until next time,
~KG~
