SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm requested waivers on Kerri Gardin. Forward Shyra Ely has been added to the team's roster.
Ely, a 6-2 forward, spent two seasons with San Antonio after the Silver Stars selected her in the second round (14th pick overall) in 2005. She averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game as a rookie, ranking fifth amongst WNBA rookies in minutes per game (16.5 mpg). Last season, Ely averaged 3.4 points in 12 games. She missed 18 games with a fractured left foot.
Ely was an All-SEC Team pick and an Honorable Mention AP All-American as a senior at Tennessee, finishing her career ninth in Lady Vols history in scoring (1,673) and sixth in rebounding (940).
The 2007 Seattle Storm training camp roster now stands at 17.
