SEATTLE - Seattle Storm Head Coach and General Manager
Brian Agler announced today the addition of guard Silvia Dominguez to the 2012 training camp roster.
Dominguez, 25, helped lead Ros Casares Valencia to the EuroLeague Women championship April 1, scoring a season-high 13 points against Rivas Ecopolis in the final. Dominguez starts alongside the Storm's
Lauren Jackson and
Ann Wauters for Valencia and averaged 5.8 points and 3.8 assists per game in EuroLeague action.
The championship was the second in a row for Dominguez, who previously played for 2011 EuroLeague titlest Halcon Avenida from 2006-11. A 5-6 point guard, Dominguez is also a member of the Spanish National Team.
"I've watched Silvia play the last four seasons and I've seen her really mature as a player," said Agler. "She's proven to be one of the top point guards in Europe and she's a proven winner."
Seattle previously re-signed
Sue Bird,
Katie Smith and
Tanisha Wright as free agents and added All-Stars
Tina Thompson and Ann Wauters via free agency. With the addition of Dominguez, the Storm's roster for training camp now stands at 13.
The Storm opens the 2012 season by hosting the Los Angeles Sparks on May 18 at KeyArena.
