Storm Signs Kaayla Chones

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today signed 6-3 center
Kaayla Chones to a contract, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel
Anne Donovan announced. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
A standout at North Carolina State, Chones averaged 13 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 118 games over four seasons for the WolfPack.

Chones holds career averages of 1.7 points and 7.0 minutes in two WNBA seasons with Washington. Her best statistical year came in 2004 when she played in 13 games while averaging 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds.
Chones was selected by the Washington Mystics in the second round (15th overall pick) of the 2004 WNBA Draft.

The Seattle Storm will open their 2006 season on FSN Northwest against Western Conference rival Los Angeles at KeyArena beginning at 6 p.m. this Sunday, May 21. The following Tuesday, May 23, Seattle will host the Houston Comets at 8 p.m. The Houston game will be televised to a national audience on ESPN2.
