“JB has been playing with pain these last few games and the doctors have advised us that, while playing with the injury in the short term won’t cause further damage, playing on it over a period longer than three weeks could stunt the healing process,” Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel
Anne Donovan said. “It’s difficult to lose a starter this late in the season, but JB’s long-term health is our top priority and all parties involved agree that this is the correct decision.”

In her seventh WNBA season, Burse has started 27 games for the Storm, averaging 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Burse has posted two double-doubles this year and led the team in rebounding four times, including her career-best 19-rebound outing vs. Phoenix on May 23. Burse grabbed a WNBA-record 16 rebounds in the first half of that game.
