Bird Has Successful Nose Surgery

SEATTLE - Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird today had successful closed reduction surgery on the broken nose she sustained Tuesday, June 7 in a game at Connecticut. She is listed as day-to-day.

The Storm next plays the Minnesota Lynx at KeyArena Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. (7:00 p.m., ).

Bird was able to play the day after undergoing the same procedure during last year's Western Conference Finals.

The three-time All-WNBA First Team selection is averaging 14.0 points and 5.3 assists per game this season, ranking fifth in the WNBA in the latter category. She extended her streak to 106 consecutive starts to open her Storm career before missing the last three games due to the injury. The Storm went 2-1 in those games.
