SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today requested waivers on 5-9 guard Lindsey Wilson.
Wilson, a Seattle native, was originally selected by the Connecticut Sun (34th pick overall) in the 2003 WNBA Draft and later waived during training camp. She spent the summer as part of the largely male practice squad that worked against the Storm during practice, and later played in Greece over the winter.
Signed Tuesday, Wilson was part of a crowded battle to make the roster as a backup point guard. The Storm still has four players - Tully Bevilaqua, Stacy Clinesmith, Michelle Greco and Rita Williams - competing for that spot.
The Storm’s training camp roster now stands at 18 players. That includes a pair of players, centers Simone Edwards and Kamila Vodichkova, who are still fulfilling overseas commitments.
The Storm will play their first preseason game against the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, May 8 at the America West Arena in Phoenix at 6 p.m.
Single-game tickets for the Storm’s regular-season home games at KeyArena can be purchased by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX or logging onto storm.wnba.com. For information on 2004 Storm season tickets, group tickets and ticket packages, call 206-217-WNBA or log onto storm.wnba.com.
