SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today requested waivers on 6-4 forward/center Andrea Lalum.

Lalum played collegiately at the nearby University of Washington. A first-team All-Pac-10 selection as a senior, Lalum averaged 16.0 points and 5.8 rebounds as a senior.

Undrafted in the 2004 WNBA Draft, Lalum signed with the Storm as a free agent on April 26. She struggled early during training camp to make the adjustment to the higher level of play in the WNBA. A sprained ankle sustained during Wednesday evening's practice also hurt Lalum's bid to make the Storm's roster, which now stands at 18 players, including three still fulfilling overseas commitments.

The Storm will play their first preseason game against the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, May 8 at the AmericaWest Arena in Phoenix at 7 p.m. Seattle will play one home preseason game on Sunday, May 16 at 6 p.m. against the Phoenix Mercury at KeyArena.

Seattle will open the 2004 WNBA season against the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday, May 20 at KeyArena.
