Catching Up With ... Sue Bird

STORM.WNBA.COM has been busy trading e-mail with several Storm players to find out how they’re spending their off-season, what they miss about Seattle, and other interesting facts you probably didn’t know. You know these players for their excellent play on the court, now find out a little more about them off the court. Today’s player is All-Star point guard Sue Bird, who is busy right now rehabbing her left knee after having postseason surgery.

Bird spent part of her winter filming a commercial for ESPN. No mascots were harmed during the filming.

What's your schedule like right now?
Rehab, Rehab Rehab! Its pretty much all I do!

How is your rehab going? Rehab is going great! I'm working out everyday and feel really good about getting back on the court soon.

When can you start playing again?
You'll have to talk to my doctor on that one, but I'm pretty confident it’ll be soon.

What movie is in your VCR /DVD player right now?
“Finding Nemo” is in my DVD player right now, and if you haven't seen it you need to check it out ASAP!

What is in your CD player?
I'm not really sure, I think it’s just a CD that I made myself with a lot of different stuff on it.

Last good book you read?
The DaVinci Code. It was a great read!

What kind of car are you driving?
These days I'm mostly in a city, so it’s public transportation for me.

What kind of car would you drive if you could choose any car?
If I could have any car right now it would be a Mercedes CLK, a Range Rover or a Defender.

What do you miss most about Seattle?
I miss the restaurants and just the overall feel of the city!

What do you want for Christmas?
A watch.

What was your favorite Christmas present when you were young
One year my dad built me a Barbie house with an elevator in it. I thought I was the coolest kid in school!

When was the last time you went shopping?
Everyday is a potential shopping day for me, but I think the last time I went was, of course, the day after Thanksgiving.

What is the most money you’ve ever spent on shoes?
Hmmm, maybe somewhere between $150-200.

How much time do you spend on the Internet in a week?
Enough for it to be considered too much ... ha!

What’s your favorite vacation spot?
I love Hawaii!

Favorite road city in the WNBA?
This is an easy pick for me. I love playing in New York because it’s an opportunity for all of my friends and family to see my play in person. Connecticut is a very close second, again for obvious reasons!

Favorite Animal?
Monkeys! Or dogs!

What's your holiday greeting for Storm fans?
Storm fans, I hope the holidays treat you and your families well and that Storm season tickets are in ALL of your stockings! I miss you!
