The Seattle Storm is always looking for bright, energetic people who want to work hard and play hard as part of one of the world's premier women's sports teams. Seasonal and Part Time Positions:

Box Office Associate

This position is dedicated to the efficient servicing of all Seattle Storm guests at the KeyArena box office on game nights and events. The box office associate duties include walk-up ticket sales and will-call.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sell tickets via Ticketmaster system
  • Handle outbound and inbound will-call requests
  • Interact with guests to answer questions and resolve ticketing issues
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions and balance a simple bank

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Prior use of Ticketmaster or similar ticket system preferred
  • Previous box office experience preferred
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays as scheduled

The box office associate reports to the Ticket Operations Coordinator, and is a non-exempt, part-time position.

Marketing & Promotions Associate

Work closely with members of the Storm’s Marketing and Events & Entertainment Departments to execute projects from start to finish, including: community outreach promotions, game nights, Storm special events and administrative support. Many of these events are on evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and manage game night functions (in-arena, on-court, concourse & plaza activities)
  • Assist in event planning for marketing, ticket sales, community relations and public relations initiatives (e.g, basketball clinics, Season Ticket Holder parties, press conferences, Media Day, marketing events)
  • Seek out database building opportunities and lead generation
  • Manage Marketing & Event inventory (premium items, printed materials, signage, props)
  • Contribute to the development of branding/positioning for all advertising and promotional campaigns including ticket sales, sponsorship activation, TV and radio broadcasts, grassroots events, and KeyArena game activities

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously, manage a project from design to completion, and deliver an outstanding work product
  • Detail-oriented, especially under deadline pressures, with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Highly organized and efficient with time
  • Creative focus when problem solving
  • Positive attitude toward colleagues and outside vendors

Seattle Storm Ball Kid

Students ages 15 and up may apply to become a member of the Seattle Storm Ball Kid Program. Applicants must submit the following to the Storm office by April 1, 2014, to be considered for the upcoming season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setting up the court (pre-game)
  • Setting up home/visitor locker rooms
  • Sweeping, wiping the floor
  • Distributing water, towels and warm-ups during timeouts
  • Folding warm-ups and towels
  • Rebounding for players before the game and during halftime
  • Assisting players before and after games as necessary
  • Cleaning locker room post game

Expectations:

In an effort to promote and maintain the professional atmosphere of our program, Ball Kids must follow the policies below. Please consider these policies carefully before applying to the program.

  • Perfect attendance to all assigned games, which fall between May and September
  • No autographs, idle chit chat or horsing around while working
  • This is a job and must be approached with a commitment to serve others in an unselfish and professional manner
  • Arrive to work on time, 2.5 hours before the game (normally 4:30 p.m.) and stay post game until the home/visiting team leaves.
  • Understand that you will be working very closely to the Storm as well as the opposing team. Trustworthiness and confidentiality are two key components of this job.

Internships:

Seattle Storm internships provide hands-on experience, mentoring and resume building in the field of professional sports. Interns spend approximately 5 months focusing on one area of the organization, while still getting the chance to experience the total spectrum of what it takes to run a team. Interns leave with experience and success designed to launch them on the career path of their choice. While Seattle Storm internships are unpaid, the experience gained is priceless. College credit is available.

We are proud to offer the following internships for Summer 2014:

Basketball Operations Intern

What you will do:

  • Assist with daily operations of the Seattle Storm directly related to the team
  • Set up and breakdown for Storm team practices
  • Participate in player practices including, but not limited to, clock function and passing & rebounding for players
  • Assist with player workouts
  • Assist with daily functions of equipment manager & basketball operations
  • Assist visiting teams in the market during practices, shoot-a-rounds, & games

What you will learn:

  • Practice procedures for a professional sports franchise
  • Insight into professional WNBA coaching techniques
  • Women’s professional player workouts, drills, & skill building
  • Equipment Manager & Basketball Operations duties in a major sports league
  • How to make yourself accommodating and invaluable to visiting teams

What we ask of you:

  • Pursuing either a 4-year college degree, or have recently graduated in, Sports Management, Sports Administration, Exercise Science, or Physical Education with a desire to pursue a career in the Sports Industry
  • Experience working for, or playing on, a collegiate or professional athletic team is required
  • Be available to work the hours required to successfully complete the season (including nights, weekends, & holidays)
  • Ability to follow precise instruction
  • Perform well under pressure
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Experience working with a high school or college athletic team is desirable

Guest Relations Intern

What you will do:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to ticket package holders and fans through knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient interactions
  • Serve as the face of the Seattle Storm at the Fan Information Booth (“The Huddle”) during Storm home games at KeyArena
  • Build relationships with Storm fans that result in guest satisfaction, repeat business, referrals, and outstanding product value
  • Track inventory assets
  • Develop new and creative ways to better the Season Ticket Holder experience

What you will learn:

  • How to manage customer relations at a level that drives top line revenue and creates the happiest fans in professional sports
  • How to use Archtics, the industry’s leading ticketing and contact management software
  • What happens behind the scenes at professional sporting events, and the role fan satisfaction, guest experience, and customer retention play in a team’s success
  • Hands-on and transferable experience about how a top tier, highly visible professional sports organization functions
  • Superior organizational and contact management skills
