“National Girls and Women in Sports Day Essay Contest”

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

  • No purchase is necessary
  • You must be a Washington state resident
  • You must fall within one of the following groups:
    - Ages 8-13; or
    - Ages 14-18; or
    - 19 years of age or older
  • Contest BEGINS at 10:00 a.m. PT on February 4, 2009, and ENDS at 11:59 p.m. PT on March 6, 2009
  • To enter, log on to www.storm.wnba.com , follow the “National Girls and Women in Sports Day” link at storm.wnba.com and complete the registration page. (Contestants under the age of 18 need their parent or guardian’s permission to participate. See the registration page for instructions.)
  • Write a 500 words or less essay that best describes “How Girls’ and Women’s Athletics Have Impacted My Life.” (Any essay over 500 words will not be accepted.)
  • One Grand Prize Winner will be selected from all entries.
  • One Runner-Up Prize Winner will be selected from each of the three groups.
  • The Grand Prize and Runner-Up Winners will be selected based on the originality and creativity of their submission.
  • The Grand Prize winner must agree to attend the Storm’s 2009 preseason game at KeyArena (date TBD).
  • Only winners will be notified.
PRIZES:
  • The Grand Prize winner will receive:
    - Four (4) tickets to the Storm’s 2009 preseason game at KeyArena (date TBD);
    - One (1) personalized jersey or player jersey of winner’s choice;
    - One (1) $150 gift card; and
    - Pre-game recognition at the Storm’s 2009 preseason game at KeyArena (date TBD).
    (Retail Value of Grand Prize is approximately $500.)
  • The three (3) Runner-Up Prize Winners will receive:
    - Four (4) tickets to the Storm’s 2009 preseason game at KeyArena (date TBD); and
    - Pre-game recognition at the Storm’s 2009 preseason game at KeyArena (date TBD)
    (Retail Value of Runner-Up Prize is approximately $200.)
  • All four (4) winners will have their essays posted at www.storm.wnba.com during the month of May 2009.
  • No substitution, cash equivalent or transfer or prizes permitted except at the Storm’s option for a prize of comparable or greater value.

NOTIFICATION: Winners will be notified via telephone on or about March 31, 2009. In the event a winner cannot be reached or declines the prize, an alternate winner will be selected based on the originality and creativity of their submission. Winners will be announced and their essays published on www.storm.wnba.com.

ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to Washington state residents. Employees of the Seattle Storm, The Women’s Basketball Club of Seattle, LLC, the Women’s National Basketball Association and its Teams and Operators, WNBA Enterprises, LLC, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, distributors, advertising and promotional agencies, their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household are NOT ELIGIBLE. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winner. The Storm reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. No substitution or transfer of prize by winner will be permitted. Participation in the contest and acceptance of prize constitutes permission to the Storm and its agencies to use winner's name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

GENERAL RULES: By entering, entrant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the Seattle Storm, The Women’s Basketball Club of Seattle, LLC, the Women’s National Basketball Association and its Teams and Operators, WNBA Enterprises, LLC, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, employees and agents against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), with respect to or arising out of (i) entrant’s participation in the promotion, or (ii) the receipt or use of the prizes awarded herein. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use winner’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade by the Seattle Storm, The Women’s Basketball Club of Seattle, LLC, the Women’s National Basketball Association and its Teams and Operators, WNBA Enterprises, LLC, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates directors, officers, governors, employees and agents, without further authorization, compensation, or remuneration, unless prohibited by law. By participating in these sweepstakes, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. The Storm is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the sweepstakes or in the announcement of prizes.

WINNERS LIST: For a list of the winners, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope with first-class postage affixed to: Seattle Storm, Attn: “NGWSD Essay Contest”, 490 Fifth Avenue N, Seattle, WA 98109. Requests must be received by April 30, 2009.
