On the undefeated start: “I think you have to look at the totality of our team. I think we have been able to draw off our bench. It’s been a boost, at least the last two games in the standpoint of trailing and having to come back. I think there are several factors. We have a lot of work to do; I don’t think any of us think we played particularly well the first half today. We are a working progress but we’ll definitely take it.”

On the effective play in the second half: “I thought defensively we got more active. We were able to play out of our defense a lot more. Then offensively we spaced the floor well. I thought Sophia Young really keyed us early, kind of got us going. She and Becky Hammon were both really solid points to play through. Honestly, I think our group of rookies in the first half kind of struggled but in the second half they grew up a little bit and gave us some really solid minutes. I thought Scholanda Robinson defensively was a key. She gave us some energy on the defense end that we were able to play off of.”

On overcoming the halftime deficit: “We just buckled down defensively. I thought we made some stops. We tried to push it back out from our defense. We got out on the break, we ran a little bit, and then in the half court we executed. It was just a great effort in the second half by our whole team.”

On adjustments for upcoming game against Mercury: “We definitely have to get off to a better start. Things were just too easy for them in the second half. We have to be better defensively from start to finish. Just be who we are.”

On the Silver Stars hot start: “I think we take pride in our defense. We really dug ourselves a hole in the first half. But in the second half we buckled down, tried to box out, and got some rebounds. We have players that are able to guard people and we have players that are able to finish on offense as well.”

On the third quarter play: “I think we were running the floor better. In the first half, they were giving us one shot but in the second half we were giving them one shot. We were able to rebound and push the ball a lot. I thought we got a lot of fast break points and that is because we were running the court, rebounding, and pushing the ball.”

On the 13 fouls in the third period “You can’t blame the outcome of the game on that, you have to look at it as a whole and it shouldn’t come down to that.” San Antonio is a good team, they are number 1 right now and we showed that we can play with them.”

On the Second Half: “We have to work together better and not foul so much, we need to just play hard in the game on Sunday.”

On the offense in the Second Half: We just have to execute offense better, we need to make better passes and we have to find a better way to get it done.”

On the fouls in the Third Quarter: “It does slow down our offense but at the same time you can’t focus on it and you have to finish strong.”

On the second half of the game: “We just let it get away, if you don’t work together in the second half you are going to lose and that’s what happened. Everything was lacking in the second half. In the first half we played great defense and all five people were on the same page. But in the second half, it was a totally different team.”

How San Antonio pulled away with a win and how the Mercury can improve: “We control how we play and react on the court and right now we are not there. Both offense and defense were awful in the second half…if you play bad defense then you take bad shots. San Antonio is a good team and they adjusted to us in the second half. There is a laundry list of things we need to fix by getting back into the gym and work harder until we find a different mindset that works.”
