Silver Stars Unveil New Logo

The San Antonio Silver Stars today unveiled their new logo for their first season in San Antonio. The Silver Stars were born on December 5, 2002, when Spurs Sports & Entertainment announced that they had assumed ownership of the Utah Starzz of the WNBA and that the team would relocate to San Antonio.

“The unveiling of the new logo is another step taken towards what we feel will be an exciting inaugural season of WNBA basketball in San Antonio,” said Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil, Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer. “We wanted the logo to be something that fans in San Antonio could relate to and we feel we have done that with the colors we chose.”

San Antonio’s logo has a black and silver color scheme that is similar to that of the San Antonio Spurs, the Silver Stars’ NBA counterpart. The star is a representation of the team’s Texas ties, with Texas being known as the “Lone Star State.” The logo was designed by Creative Civilization – an Aguilar/Girard Agency. In addition, the Silver Stars home uniforms will have a silver body instead of the traditional white, while the away uniforms will be black.

The Silver Stars will host an “After Party” after the unveiling at the San Antonio Express-News Headlines restaurant beneath the Sombrilla at the SBC Center. Fans will have a chance to mingle with Silver Stars players Natalie Williams and Danielle Crockrom, as well as head coach Candi Harvey and assistant coach Tammi Reiss. Everyone in attendance will receive a Silver Stars T-shirt and will be treated to a light dinner. Anyone who brings along a guest that purchases two season tickets will receive an autographed WNBA basketball by the players and coaches at the festivities. Those who purchase season tickets and pay in full will receive a Six Flags Fiesta Texas Day Pass for each seat in the account.

The Silver Stars open their inaugural season in San Antonio on May 24 at the SBC Center when they host Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm at 7:30 p.m. Fans can purchase 18-game lower level season ticket packages or the Silver Stars Weekend 6-Game Plan by calling 444-5050. Season tickets prices are $126.00, $270.00, $342.00 and $522.00, while the 6-Game Plan prices are $40.00 and $85.00. Neither package includes a $.35 per game traffic management fee.

Fans can also tune in and listen to all of the team’s 2003 WNBA games on Clear Channel radio stations KSJL 810 AM and KSJL 92.5 FM. The Silver Stars play-by-play announcer will be Andrew Monaco.
