Silver Stars Guard Crossley Suffers Season-Ending Knee Injury

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio guard Shanna Crossley tore the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in her left knee during Monday night’s preseason contest with Detroit, announced head coach and general manager Dan Hughes.

Crossley injured her knee during San Antonio’s second offensive possession of the game. She will have surgery to repair the torn ligament on Thursday, May 22.

“Shanna has been an important part of our franchise during the past two seasons,” said Hughes. “We will certainly miss her this season, but she will be here rehabbing and we look forward to having her back on the court in 2009.”

Drafted by the Silver Stars in the second round of the 2006 WNBA draft, Crossley is the only Silver Star to have appeared in every game for the past two seasons. In those two seasons, Crossley has made 122 3-point field goals, second best in franchise history. In 2007, she averaged 9.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
