Sophia Young Named to All-WNBA Second Team

SAN ANTONIO San Antonio Silver Stars forward Sophia Young has been named to the All-WNBA Second Team, the league announced today. It is the fourth career All-WNBA honor for Young and the first for the Silver Stars since 2009.

A three-time WNBA All-Star, Young started all 35 games in which she played this season. She led the Silver Stars in points per game during the regular-season (16.3) and ranked fifth in the WNBA in postseason points per game (20.0). She ranked third in the WNBA in steals per game (2.2) while leading the team in rebounds per contest (7.2). Young notched six double-doubles on the season and set a career high with 32 points against Phoenix on Sept. 1. She was also named to the 2012 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team.

Young previously earned All-WNBA Second Team honors in 2007 and 2009 and was named to the All-WNBA First Team in 2008.

Joining Young on the All-WNBA Second Team are Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore, Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles, Los Angeles Sparks guard Kristi Toliver and Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen. The All-WNBA First Team was comprised of Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker, Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings, Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles, New York Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter and Lynx guard Seimone Augustus.
