  • The WNBA All-Star game is right around the corner, and I am sure you are busy making plans to watch your favorite players in action! San Antonio is excited to host this yearís event, and I am sure you will be thrilled to know that our city has something for everyone. So when you are not at the arena watching your favorite players showcase their talents, you can check out some of these wonderful things our city has to offer!!

History buffs: The Alamo is centrally located in downtown San Antonio, you can literally walk through the footsteps of where Davy Crockett and company bravely fought to establish Texasís independence against General Santa Anna and the Mexican troops.

River Walk: The River Walk is a network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River covering a total of nearly 5 miles through the heart of the city. If you have time, I would highly recommend taking one of the guided tour boat rides, that way you can sit back, relax and learn some interesting historic facts while you scout out the numerous restaurants, shops and bars that line both sides of this river. The River Walk has everything from causal to fine dinning, piano bars to hip-hop clubs, day or night, you can find whatever you are looking for in the way of food or entertainment along this famous San Antonio landmark.

Family affair: If you are looking for more family oriented type of entertainment, then you are going to want to plan to stay a few extra days! In a short drive, you will find yourself at Sea World, Six Flags, the San Antonio Zoo, or any of the numerous water parks the San Antonio has to offer!

Typical Texas: If you want the authentic Texas experience, then you might consider heading to Cowboys Dancehall, where they have everything from two-step lessons to live Rodeos!

If it is Tex-mex you crave, then right on the River Walk you will find Acenar, or you could venture a few blocks off the River Walk to the more traditional Rosarioís.

Off the beaten path: Perhaps you want to get away from the traditional touristic attractions, then I would suggest one of my favorite places to hang out downtown. Carmen de la Calleís is a cute little tapas and sangria bar that has great food and wonderful live entertainment from flamenco dancers, Jazz and World Music!!

It is true that everything is bigger in Texas, from pick-up trucks to belt buckles, so without a doubt this yearís WNBA All-Star game will be the best one yet!! If you have not purchased your tickets, itís not too lateóget them today!! (click here to buy tickets) Dust off those cowboy boots, grab some sunscreen and come on down for a great time!!!
