Silver Stars Superlatives - Sixth Woman Of The Year
With the 2012 Silver Stars season in the books, SASilverStars.com is giving fans the opportunity to cast their vote on team and season superlatives.
Over the next five weeks, Silver Stars fans will have the opportunity to vote on the Newcomer of the Year, Sixth Woman of the Year, Performance of the Year and Game of the Year. Candidates for each category will be announced every Monday.
Sixth Woman of the Year
The Silver Stars boasted one of the most productive benches in the season in 2012, with the reserves averaging 28.8 points per game while accounting for 35 percent of the teams total scoring.
The candidates for Sixth Woman of the Year were selected using WNBA criteria – the athlete must have participated in 75 percent of the teams regular-season games (26 games) and have appeared in more games as a reserve than as a starter.
Danielle Adams – Adams came off the bench in 31 games during her second season with the Silver Stars, averaging 10.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks in those games.
Jia Perkins – Perkins came off the bench in 32 games during her second season with the Silver Stars, finishing third in WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year voting. She ranked sixth in the WNBA with 11.0 points per game off the bench while adding 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Shenise Johnson – Johnson came off the bench in 35 games as a rookie, averaging 5.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.82 steals per game.
Ziomara Morrison – Morrison came off the bench in all 30 games in which she played as a rookie, averaging 2.0 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.1 blocks, 0.1 assists and 0.1 steals per game.
Tully Bevilaqua – Bevilaqua came off the bench in all 28 games in which she played this season, averaging 0.2 points, 0.3 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.3 steals per game.
