Silver Stars Overseas Update: 10/17/12

Three of the seven Silver Stars abroad began domestic league play last week. Rookie Shenise Johnson made her overseas debut with three road games with UE Sopron while Danielle Robinson played three Turkish Cup qualifying games with Tarsus. Chilean rookie Ziomara Morrison also began domestic play in Spain.

The remaining four Silver Stars abroad made their way overseas to their international commitments and begin both domestic and EuroLeague play in the next two weeks.

10/17 at DKSK Miskolc – W, 75-65, 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals

Johnson helped UE Sopron (5-0) stay undefeated and atop the Hungarian league standings with a trio of wins. The Rochester, N.Y. native had seven points and three rebounds in her international debut at Bacsbasket in Budapest before notching her first career double-double, 20 points and 13 rebounds, at Cegledi EKK in Cegled. Johnson added three assists and four steals to her double-double performance, earning Eurobasket Hungarian League Player of the Week honors. She added 29 points, nine rebounds and five steals in the teams 75-65 win at DKSK in Miskolc.

10/14 vs. Edremit – W, 108-67, 11 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists

Robinson started off her overseas experience with Tarsus BLD (2-1) with Turkish Cup qualifying group play in Kutahya. Robinson notched 16 points, 7 rebounds and a pair of assists in a one-point game one victory against Mersin – earning Player of the Game honors - and had 9 points, three rebounds and seven assists in a 68-71 game two loss to Ceyhan. The San Jose, Calif. native wrapped up the weekend with 11 points, four rebounds and five assists in a 108-67 blow out victory against Edremit.

Ziomara Morrison
10/13 vs. Caja Rural – W, 95-72, 4 points, 4 rebounds

Morrison made her Rivas Ecopolis debut on Saturday, notching four points and four rebounds in the teams 95-72 win against Caja Rural.
