The San Antonio Silver Stars and the US Army would like to congratulate our first Army Strong High School Team of the Week, Johnson High School.

Coach Randy Evans is in his first year as head coach of Johnsonís Lady Jaguars basketball team and brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this team. The Lady Jaguars are currently in first place in their district (26-5A) with a 5-0 mark and are 19-4 overall on the season. The Jags are bolstered by† strong play from Gabbi Bowie, Tiara Davenport and Erica Sanders and have benefitted from nice role playing by Morgan Stearns and Alexis Torres, catapulting Johnson into a contender in the strong 5A Region four. Also, senior Brie Foreman, who has successfully returned from an ACL injury, was recently selected to play basketball in Australia with a USA team this summer.

Notable wins this season for the Jags include: Churchill, Wagner, Judson, Jay, Katy Seven Lakes, Ft. Bend Hightower, Brennan, Dallas Lincoln, and Amarillo. With only seven district games remaining the Jags are hoping to continue their relentless drive towards an anticipated spot in the playoffs.

The San Antonio Silver Stars have teamed up with the US Army to present the Army Strong High School Team of the Week. This program recognizes varsity girlsí basketball teams in Texas whose athletes demonstrate sportsmanship and leadership on and off the basketball court. Every Tuesday, beginning in January and running through March, the Silver Stars select a team that succeeds beyond the win-loss column and makes a difference in its school and community.

Each winning team will receive a visit from Silver Stars Head Coach and General Manager Dan Hughes and a US Army representative as well as tickets to a 2013 Silver Stars regular-season home game.
