Los Angeles Sparks forward/center Candace Parker was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for July, the WNBA announced Thursday.

Parkers 19.8 ppg and 9.0 rpg in July led Los Angeles (12-6) to a 7-2 record for the month after a 5-4 start to the season. Her 178 total points were also a conference best, while her 12 blocks led the league. Parker scored at least 20 points in six of her teams nine games and averaged 23.2 points over two weeks (five games) to earn back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week awards.

Parker scored a season-high 30 points against the Tulsa Shock on July 11 to help the Sparks capture its first road win of the season. In that game she went an impressive 14-for-20 from the field, matching the WNBAs season-high for field goals made with 14.

To improve her season total to five, Parker recorded double-doubles in both the Sparks game against the Phoenix Mercury on July 18 and the Seattle Storm on July 25. Against Phoenix, she tallied 25 points and 16 rebounds and again pulled double-digits with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the 73-66 loss vs. Seattle. She also set a new career-high in free-throws made, converting 14 of 17 attempts.

To cap off the month, Parker also earned MVP honors at the 2013 WNBA All-Star game after leading the West to its 102-98 win over the East with 11 rebounds and an All-Star Game record 23 points.
