Developed in 1987, the Rancho Los Amigos Las Floristas Wheelchair Sports Program provides Rancho’s inpatients and outpatients with the opportunity to participate in success-oriented sports activities.

Through basketball, tennis, football, hockey and over-the-line teams, the program reaches out to individuals with orthopedic disabilities of any age. A hallmark of the program is the evolution of teamwork, trust and building of new bridges to independence.

Many of Rancho’s teams and athletes are among the best in the city , state and nation and have been honored with numerous awards and championship titles.

More importantly, these athletes are becoming educated, goal oriented and productive members of their communities.

Accomplished athletes who have extensive education and training in the areas of Adapted Physical Education and coaching, staff the program. They continue to learn and grow through formal classes and regular attendance at various training camps.
