Leslie First to Reach 5,000 WNBA Career Points
EL SEGUNDO, CA, -- Los Angeles Sparks center Lisa Leslie became the first WNBA player to total 5,000 career points in Sunday night’s game at STAPLES Center. Leslie entered the game against the San Antonio Silver Stars with 4,999 career points and reached the 5,000 point milestone 53 seconds into the first quarter with a 19' jump shot. She also finished the game with a career high 41 points leading the Sparks to a franchise high 105 points.

Entering the game, Leslie averaged 20.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and ranked first in defensive rebounds (92), total rebounds (129) and double-doubles (7). The University of Southern California graduate signed with the Sparks in 1997, the WNBA's inaugural season. Leslie has won two championships with the Sparks (2001, 2002), and has been named WNBA MVP twice (2001, 2004), All-WNBA first team for six seasons (1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), and recorded the first dunk in WNBA history (2002).
