Tip-A-Spark 2009

Los Angeles Sparks players and coaches served food and drinks to 65 Sparks MVP’s and special guests at Ciudad in Downtown Los Angeles to raise over $3,300 dollars for the Women’s Care Cottage and the Gay and Lesbian Center.

The July 16 dinner began with fans mingling and taking pictures with their favorite Sparks as they were seated. Sparks players split up into stations. Some served food at the buffet line and some took drink orders and served tables, refilling water glasses and cleaning plates.

Representatives from Farmer’s Insurance, the Sparks corporate and community sponsor, joined to chat with MVP’s and players to help the cause.

Judging by the shared nods and smiles, the tastiest meal of the night was the crowd favorite Piquillo Glazed Boneless Short Ribs.

Sparks Co-Owners Carla Christofferson and Kathy Goodman were on hand to thank supporters of the two charities and spoke about the importance of donating.

One lucky MVP’s name was drawn by Candace Parker in a raffle with the prize of an autographed Candace jersey.

The night was a success, not only did MVP’s enjoy a meal with their favorite players, but two worthy charities benefited from the 65 generous tippers.
