The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients
To round out her series of appearances this week, Holdsclaw participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Pennies for Patients” school assembly Friday February 17, 2006 from 9:30-10:15 AM at Downey High School to about 1,000 students. Last year Downey High School raised $17,000 that directly impacted The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Three honored patients shared their personal stories and Holdsclaw explained how the Sparks are teaming up with the campaign this season. For every $8.50 ticket sold to any 2006 regular season home game, the Sparks will donate $2.50 back to the “Pennies for Patients” campaign. The grand prize for the class that raises the most amount of money is a pizza party in a luxury suite at the Sparks home opener at STAPLES Center, participation in the ball exchange and high-five squad, and recognition during a special half-time dedication.
