The first ever “Lisa Leslie Inspiring Women Awards” will be presented in conjunction with the Sparks’ annual “Inspiring Women Night” on Wednesday, August 19th as the Sparks take on the Minnesota Lynx at 7:30 pm at STAPLES Center.

“Lisa Leslie is a legend both on and off the court, and she has been inspiring women throughout her entire career,” said Sparks’ team president, Kristin Bernert. “The women that we will honor at this game are also legends in their own arenas. It is a privilege for the Sparks to honor and recognize Lisa Leslie in her farewell season, along with other amazing women in our community on this night.”

The awards will be presented by co-owners of the Los Angeles Sparks, Kathy Goodman and Carla Christofferson, who as successful businesswomen are trailblazers in their own right. Goodman and Christofferson represent a limited number of women who own professional sports teams.

The first ever Lisa Leslie Inspiring Women Awards are to be presented to the following women:

Nikki Caldwell, UCLA Women’s Head Basketball Coach

Karen Earl, Executive Director of the Jenesse Center

Sharon Herzberger, President of Whittier College

Faye McClure, Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Farmers Insurance

These remarkable women will be honored on the court at halftime and will attend a special pregame reception.
