“Remember when Sky Head Coach & GM Pokey Chatman, her coaches, players and all the Sky staff hosted an exclusive party with our amazing Skyriders (Sky Season Ticket Holders) at Gameworks in Schaumburg. Skyriders spent the evening challenging the Sky players to many different types of racing car games, air hockey, bowling, dancing games and some fans even put our sharp shooters to the test on the basketball games.

Fans chatted to Big Syl and Swin about the upcoming Olympic games and had the chance to get to know some other new faces such as Ruth Riley, Le’coe Willingham and Ticha Penicheiro while re-connecting with all the familiar faces they have come to know so well. The Skyriders annual party is a favorite event on the Sky team calendar and we have shared many fun experiences at this party over the past seven seasons. “Remember when Epiphanny “Piph Da Great” Prince went on a tear in early June scoring a then career high 31pts to lead the Sky to a 65-63 win over the Washington Mystics and the next night displayed incredible heroics to knock down a three-pointer at the buzzer against Atlanta that sent the game into overtime and gave the Sky their biggest comeback win of franchise history as they fought back from 22 points for the 92-94 win. Prince bettered her career high from the night before by racking up 33 points.

Prince was recognized as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week presented by Boost Mobile for the week ending June 3 but Piph wasn’t done yet. Against Tulsa on June 8 back on our home floor she hit a running three-pointer to force overtime and carried the team to a 98-91 win. Prince notched 32 points in that game giving her three consecutive games of 30 plus points which equaled the league record set by former Houston Comets legend Cynthia Cooper and earned her a second consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Week award”

“Remember when hundreds of Girl Scouts joined the Sky and ran the game on June 8 when we hosted the Tulsa Shock. Girl Scouts could be seen undertaking various roles all throughout Allstate Arena from welcoming fans and handing out programs, being the PA Announcer alongside our own Ray Clay, assisting fans at the Sky Fan Services Table, high fiving players as they run on the court, throwing t-shirts into the crowd with the Sky Squad and getting the fans pumped up with the McDonalds Fly Kids. We also celebrated the 100 year Anniversary of the Girl Scouts at halftime with a parade of the Girl Scouts through the decades.”

“Remember when Ticha Penicheiro wore her tuxedo on June 1st when her team mates took on the Washington Mystics. After injuring her leg a few games earlier Penicheiro was unable to put on her Sky uniform to help her team but she showed the Sky fans at Allstate Arena her fun and stylish fashion sense as she cheered and coached from the sidelines.”

“Remember when Sylvia Fowles won the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for May after starting the 2012 season on fire. Big Syl reeled off three double / double games in a row and finished the month shooting an incredible 71% from the floor and averaging 11.3 rebounds per game.”
